National Tour delivers Acadia to high school students

February 28, 2012

Acadia University will take the fear out of the first-year university experience for high school students when representatives begin the 2012 National Tour this month. The new initiative is designed to help students and their families discover what it’s like to be an undergrad student at Acadia. The Wolfville, Nova Scotia university is ranked second in its class in Canada by Maclean’s.

“We’ll be visiting cities from Charlottetown to Vancouver,” said Leigh-Ann Murphy, manager of Student Recruitment. “Every session includes information on admissions, academics, and student life. More importantly, students will get to meet recent grads and current students to gain a real understanding of what they should expect when they arrive at Acadia.”

The tour includes visits to venues across Canada, with jam-packed information sessions on all aspects of university life.

“It’s so great that these events will take place across Canada,” said Robyn Zajac, a fourth-year economics student from Headingly, Manitoba. “When you’re not able to see campus before you arrive at Acadia, it can be a little scary. I think this will serve as a great alternative for those who can’t just jump in their car and drive here.”

Acadia has long been recognized as one of Canada's premier post-secondary institutions. With its nationally and internationally recognized undergraduate and graduate research initiatives, small classes and technology-rich teaching and learning environment, Acadia offers students an experience that includes academic achievement combined with personal growth and development.
