E. Belle Lynds Scholarship

Scholarship of up to $2,840 | Eligibility: Professional Studies, Education, Current 1st year, Current 2nd year

The E. Belle Lynds Scholarship is awarded annually to a student registered in the Bachelor of Education program. Eligible candidates are recommended by the Director of the School of Education. The scholarship is funded directly from the Estate of the late Margaret R. Lynds (M.A. (Hon.) Acadia, 1947) of Moncton, New Brunswick, an outstanding teacher of public speech.

E. Douglas Craig Memorial Bursaries

Bursary | Eligibility: Professional Studies, Education, Current 1st year, Current 2nd year

The E. Douglas Craig Memorial Bursaries are awarded annually to two students in the Bachelor of Education program at Acadia University who exhibits financial need. Preference will be given to students from Nova Scotia.

The endowed bursary was established in 2007 by The John and Judy Bragg Family Foundation, in consultation with the Craig Family, to honour Evan Douglas Craig (BA Acadia 1947; BED Acadia 1948; MA Acadia 1949), an Acadia University graduate who had a positive impact on John Bragg as a teacher and principal at Oxford High School.

E. Douglas Craig Scholarship

The E. Douglas Craig Scholarship is awarded annually to a student in the School of Education at Acadia University. Preference will be given to students from Nova Scotia.

This scholarship has been established by Mr. Craig’s family as a memorial to him. Evan Douglas Craig (BA, BED, MA, Acadia 1947, 1948, 1949) received many honours for his leadership on both the varsity football and hockey teams. He was inducted into Acadia’s Hockey Hall of Fame in 1995. He devoted his career to the education of young Nova Scotians with enthusiasm for the nurturing of young minds and respect for all.

Earle and Elsie Hawkesworth Bursary in Education

Bursary | Eligibility: Professional Studies, Education, Current 1st year, Current 2nd year

The Earle and Elsie Hawkesworth Bursary in Education is awarded annually on the recommendation of the School of Education to an entering or returning student in the Bachelor of Education degree program who aspires to a teaching career. The bursary is awarded on the basis of financial need and academic achievement. The bursary is made possible through the generosity of Earle (B.A. Acadia '44; B.D. '47; B.Ed. '58; Hon D.Ed. '79) and Elsie (Acadia '50) Hawkesworth of Edmonton, Alberta. Dr. Hawkesworth, former Deputy Minister of Education for the Province of Alberta, and Elsie Hawkesworth were both teachers who served many years in the field of education.

Elinor Kyte-Senior Memorial Scholarship in History

Scholarship | Eligibility: Arts, History, Current 1st year, Current 2nd year, Current 3rd year, Current 4th year

The Elinor Kyte-Senior Memorial Scholarship in History. Established in 1989 by her family and friends, in memory of Elinor Kyte­Senior (1926 - 1989), a member of the Acadia Faculty 1986 - 87 and 1988 - 89. The scholarship is awarded to a student entering the second or subsequent year of a program leading to a major or honours degree in History. Preference shall be given to a student who has demonstrated a special interest and ability in Military History.

Evelyn Leonard Marshall Munro and Frederick Newton Munro Bursary

The Evelyn Leonard Marshall Munro and Frederick Newton Munro Bursary in Education is awarded annually to a deserving student from Nova Scotia who demonstrates financial need and is entering the second year of the Bachelor of Education program at Acadia University. This bursary was established by a niece of the late Fred Munro (BA ’29, MA ’33) and Evelyn Munro (BA ’32). Mr. and Mrs. Munro were both dedicated to teaching profession and this memorial award will go to a person who displays this quality and the diligence necessary to be a credit to the profession of teaching.

Everett P. Linton Prize in Chemistry

Prize of up to $500 | Eligibility: Pure and Applied Science, Chemistry, Current 1st year

A prize provided by students and colleagues of Dr. Everett P. Linton, member of the Department 1936 to 1975 and Head from 1966 to 1975, is awarded to the student major in the first year of a chemistry program who has achieved highest marks in six hours of chemistry.
