Scholarships & Financial Assistance


With education costs on the rise, enhancing student assistance is a top priority for Acadia. Each year, we award more than $4 million to students in the form of scholarships, scholar-bursaries, bursaries, awards, and prizes. By maintaining a strong scholarship and financial assistance program, we are able to attract, retain and support our students.

As a donor to scholarships and financial assistance, you can direct your gift toward: general award funds or awards for specific departments, faculties, research, or athletic teams; any existing named awards; or you can create a personal legacy by establishing a named award yourself. By supporting scholarships and financial assistance, you can help to ensure access to all of the rewards of an Acadia education.

Florence Pearsall (’57) Bursary

Bursary of up to $1,000 | Eligibility: International student

Established in 2018 by Florence Pearsall (’57), this bursary is available to a full-time international student attending Acadia, preferably as part of the World University Service of Canada program.

Born and raised in Nova Scotia, Florence graduated from Acadia with a BA in Sociology and began a career in Fredericton as a social worker. After moving to Lewiston, New York, where she spent the majority of her adult life, she began a successful career in real estate and banking. She has great memories of Acadia and appreciated the opportunity to represent the university at the World University Service International Seminar in Japan in 1955. It greatly influenced her life. Value: $1,000.

Formuziewich Bursary for Ukrainian Students

Bursary | Eligibility: International student

Established in 2022, the Formuziewich Bursary for Ukrainian Students is a response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, providing full financial support to Ukrainian students to complete their degrees at Acadia. Available to students in any year of study in any program, the goal is to provide the students with an educational opportunity in Canada without the burden of financial concern.

Tim Formuziewich grew up in Ottawa and graduated from Acadia in 2000 with a BBA. A Dean’s list student, Tim received top awards such as the Frank H. Sobey Award for Excellence in Business Studies, the Fred C. Manning Scholarship, the Shell Canada Scholarship, and the Golden A Award. Tim received his Chartered Accountant and Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2003 and has enjoyed a career as an investor, specializing in global infrastructure, power and renewable energy and agriculture. Tim is a Canadian of Ukrainian heritage.

Frank V. and Zella Parlee Anthony Memorial Scholarships

Scholarship | Eligibility: Entering first year, International student

The Frank V. and Zella Parlee Anthony Memorial Scholarships (2) of $1335 each are provided through the generosity of the Canadian Club of Boston of which Mr. Anthony once served as President. He graduated Bachelor of Science in 1923, and his wife, Zella, Bachelor of Arts in 1922. Mr. Anthony was an eminently successful businessman in Windsor, Nova Scotia, and later in Massachusetts where he provided long and dedicated service to Acadia. The scholarships are awarded annually either as entrance or in course awards with strong preference given to citizens of the United States.
