Scholarships & Financial Assistance


With education costs on the rise, enhancing student assistance is a top priority for Acadia. Each year, we award more than $4 million to students in the form of scholarships, scholar-bursaries, bursaries, awards, and prizes. By maintaining a strong scholarship and financial assistance program, we are able to attract, retain and support our students.

As a donor to scholarships and financial assistance, you can direct your gift toward: general award funds or awards for specific departments, faculties, research, or athletic teams; any existing named awards; or you can create a personal legacy by establishing a named award yourself. By supporting scholarships and financial assistance, you can help to ensure access to all of the rewards of an Acadia education.

James W.K. Moores Engineering Scholarship

Scholarship | Eligibility: Applied Science, Entering first year

The James W.K. Moores Engineering Scholarship is awarded annually to an entering student in the Bachelor of Applied Science degree program at Acadia. Preference will be given to a student from the Campbellton/Northern New Brunswick or Middleton/Annapolis Valley Nova Scotia areas with demonstrated financial need. The award is made on recommendation of the Director of the School of Engineering. The scholarship has been established to honor James W.K. Moores (BSC-Eng. Acadia, 1951) by his three son’s James ‘79, Mark, Keith ‘81 and their families.

John J. Jodrey Scholarship in Applied Science

Scholarship | Eligibility: Applied Science, Entering first year

The John J. Jodrey Scholarship in Applied Science is provided through the generosity of Dr. John J. Jodrey, Hon. DCL 1982, of Hantsport, Nova Scotia. The scholarship is to be awarded annually on the basis of academic merit to an entering student in applied science who has received their secondary education in one of the Atlantic provinces.

John MacIntyre Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship | Eligibility: Athletics, Professional Studies, Pure and Applied Science, Applied Science, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Environmental Geoscience, Environmental Science, Geology, Kinesiology, Mathematics and Statistics, Nutrition, Physics, Psychology

The John MacIntyre Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to one or more Men’s Varsity Soccer player(s) who is/are in their second or subsequent year of study at Acadia. Preference will be given to Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Kinesiology student-athlete(s) of high academic standing, who display sportsmanship and strong leadership skills. The award(s) will be chosen on the recommendation of the head coach of the Men’s Soccer team and Director of Varsity Athletics.

John MacIntyre (BSc, Acadia, 1997), as a member of the Varsity Men’s Soccer team was both an AUS All-Star and Academic All-Canadian award recipient. This endowed scholarship was established in 2005 by Mary, Gus and Janet MacIntyre in memory of their son and brother.

John S Stevens Scholar-Bursaries

Scholar-Bursary | Eligibility: Professional Studies, Pure and Applied Science, Applied Science, Education, Current 1st year, Current 2nd year, Current 3rd year

The John S Stevens Scholar-Bursaries are awarded annually to one student in the Bachelor of Applied Science or Certificate in Applied Science program and to one student in the Bachelor of Education degree program who aspires to a career in special education. Preference will be given to students from Nova Scotia. These scholar-bursaries are awarded to entering or in-course students on the basis of financial need and academic performance. These scholar-bursaries are made possible through an endowment from the late John S. Stevens (CAS Acadia 1945
