Scholarships & Financial Assistance


With education costs on the rise, enhancing student assistance is a top priority for Acadia. Each year, we award more than $4 million to students in the form of scholarships, scholar-bursaries, bursaries, awards, and prizes. By maintaining a strong scholarship and financial assistance program, we are able to attract, retain and support our students.

As a donor to scholarships and financial assistance, you can direct your gift toward: general award funds or awards for specific departments, faculties, research, or athletic teams; any existing named awards; or you can create a personal legacy by establishing a named award yourself. By supporting scholarships and financial assistance, you can help to ensure access to all of the rewards of an Acadia education.

York Adam King Scholarship

Scholarship | Eligibility: Entering first year, New Brunswick

The York Adam King Scholarship of $320 is made possible by a fund of $4000 provided by the Reverend and Mrs. York A. King of Arlington, Massachusetts, in memory of their parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. W. Sears King of Steeves Settlement, Westmorland County, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Davis of Richibucto, Kent County, New Brunswick. The income is to be awarded annually as an entrance scholarship to the student(s) having the highest standing from the districts now served by the North River and Havelock groups of Baptist churches in Westmorland and Kings Counties, New Brunswick. Students who have graduated from Salisbury and Petitcodiac Regional High Schools are eligible. Interested persons should contact the Director of Admissions and Student Assistance.

Young Entrance Scholarship (YES) in Music

Scholarship | Eligibility: Arts, Entering first year

Established in 2014 by Mabel Young (’63), the Young Entrance Scholarship (YES) in Music is awarded to an entering student in recognition of academic excellence. While preference is for any student studying organ, it may be awarded to any entering student with an interest in pursuing church music.

Young Entrance Scholarship (YES) to Acadia

Scholarship of up to $2,020 | Eligibility: Entering first year

Established in 2020 by Mabel Young (’63) as part of Campaign for Acadia; the Young Entrance Scholarship (YES) to Acadia is awarded to entering students in any discipline in recognition of academic achievement.

Mabel Young arrived in Canada from Hong Kong in 1960 to attend Acadia University. After receiving her BA in Music in 1963, she attended McGill University where she attained her MA in Education in 1965. She spent her life in education and music, retiring as Principal of Columbia International College in Hamilton, and continuing as a church organist.
