"Angels of Acadie" Brown Bag Lunch

October 6, 2016 (12:00 pm - 1:00 pm)

In this week's Brown Bag Lunch, we're joined by ordained priest and former Acadia University professor Bob McCarthy:

Angels. What are they? Who are they? It all depends on who you ask. Maybe it was an angel who put the car keys on top of the fridge 10 seconds after you had given up on getting to the bank before closing time. Good Angel.

Unfortunately, however, the brightest of Angels, a.k.a. Lucifer - the Light-Bearer, whose names are Legion – is fond of strolling around creation’s loveliest places, such as Eden and Acadie, looking for ways to nudge homo sapiens back into the old evolutionary Dark.

No matter how Good or Evil, Angels are primarily messengers. Like the prophets, they bring messages for whomever has the courage to listen.

In this brief talk, we will discuss the idyllic if fleeting moments when 10,000 years of native wisdom came face-to-face with the Judaeo-Christian-Muslim Fundamentalism of Ignatius Loyola, passed on by a pair of reckless priests of his “least society” when Membertou met Father Biard.
