Everything You Need to Know About Diabetes

In this week's free Acadia Lifelong Learning Brown Bag Lunch, Jill Davies, volunteer with the Canadian Diabetes Association, will present a short information session on Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes. Jill will share her own experiences and take questions from the audience.

BIO

Jill Davies is a retired Educator and Counsellor, having spent the final 15 years of her career in the Student Resource Centre at Acadia University. Over the years, she worked at Acadia as a counsellor as well as overseeing Disability Services, Tutoring, the Academic Support Program, and the Arrival and Survival Show.

In spite of being fit, to her surprise, Jill was diagnosed with diabetes at age 62. After being initially diagnosed as Type 2, she was fully insulin dependent within less than a year and considered a “Type 1.5”. Over the past five years, she has educated herself about diabetes and volunteered for the Canadian Diabetes Association.
