(Postponed) "Folkestone", he said. "What a dump!"

November 23, 2017 (12:00 pm - 1:00 pm)

Location: Acadia Art Gallery

This event has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances; we hope to reschedule the session later this year. Our apologies for the inconvenience.

In May 2016, Acadia University archivist Wendy G. Robicheau spent a long weekend on the Kent Coast of England in the town of Folkestone. Why? Partially to rest before heading to the continent, but mostly to see where the 85th Battalion was camped at Shorncliffe and to see the Metropole. What Robicheau found was completely surprising.

This free Lunchtime Learning session is offered by Acadia Lifelong Learning. We welcome the public, students, faculty, and staff.

About the Speaker:

Wendy G. Robicheau is an Archivist at Acadia University. Her research interest, Acadia and the First World War, prompted her to do a pilgrimage and follow the 'Acadia Highlanders' to the Western Front and back.
