Managing Stormwater on your Property to Help Prevent Flooding

The Ecology Action Centre`s Larissa Holman presents simple and affordable solutions for reducing the risk of flooding by better managing water runoff on private property. This will include techniques such as rain barrels, rain gardens and other techniques which can divert water to areas designed to receive higher levels of stormwater. The presentation will explore why managing stormwater runoff can benefit the environment and help protect property. After the presentation, there will be time for questions and exploring what some of these solutions require in greater detail. This presentation is geared toward homeowners to reduce the risk of flooding and water damage to private property due to stormwater flow and accumulation and is sponsored by the Insurance Bureau of Canada.
