Acadia gives thanks for generous $2.5M Joyce Foundation gift

Acadia University celebrated the recent $2.5 million gift from The Joyce Foundation at the Ronald V. Joyce Centre for the Performing Arts in Hamilton, Ontario on Saturday, April 23, 2016. Over 50 alumni and friends of the University joined President and Vice-Chancellor Raymond E. Ivany, Chancellor Libby Burnham (’60), Governors Nancy McCain (’82) and Norm McIntyre (’60), Vice-President, Advancement Dr. Rod Morrison, and the Hon. Don Oliver (’60) to thank Ron Joyce and the Foundation Trustees for establishing The Joyce Foundation Bursaries and the Clifford and Helena Oliver Bursaries.

These new awards are among Acadia’s most generous and reward students with financial need for their volunteerism, community involvement and good citizenship. In addition, the Clifford and Helena Oliver Bursaries, in honour of retired Senator Oliver’s parents, will be available to students of visible minority groups. Students receiving $5,000 annually on a renewable basis now have an opportunity for an education they may only have dreamed of. The bursaries continue in perpetuity and represent the largest individual gift to student awards at Acadia.
