Loney Bowl Back on at Acadia for November 14

Court orders game to be played in response to appeal by SMU

(November 12, 2017, Wolfville, NS) Nova Scotia Supreme Court Associate Chief Justice Deborah Smith today ordered that the 2017 Loney Bowl should be played, between Saint Mary’s University and Acadia University, no later than Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017. The AUS Championship game will now be played Tuesday, Nov. 14 at Acadia University at 2 p.m. AST.

“We have heard from the court and will abide by its decision,” said Kevin Dickie, Executive Director of Acadia Athletics from Saskatchewan where he is attending to a private family matter. “We were disappointed by the series of events beyond our control both here and elsewhere that led to the cancellation of Saturday’s championship game. These are matters that will be dealt with at a later date in a much more substantive manner, but right now we are focused on the immediate future – preparing for Tuesday’s Loney Bowl and winning the right to host the Uteck Bowl in Wolfville. The next few days represent a significant opportunity for our players, coaching staff, alumni and loyal fans, and we are going to push these external distractions aside in order to concentrate entirely on what will be happening on the field.”

Spectators who plan to attend the re-scheduled Loney Bowl on November 14 can contact Acadia’s box office for more details about ticket purchases. The box office can be reached at 1-800-542-8425 or 902-542-5500.
