A call to action from our Anti-Racism Task Force

Dr. Peter Ricketts and Rev. Dr. Marjorie Lewis

Dear Members of the Acadia Community,

I am delighted to present the Report of the President’s Anti-Racism Task Force (PART) and my official response. The publication of these two documents does not end the work that the PART has initiated. It marks the beginning of the work that we need to do as an institution to address racism on our campus and ensure that anti-racism is a critical part of our Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) initiatives on campus.

These documents will form a significant part of our efforts under the Acadia 2025 strategic plan direction “Caring for Our Students and Employees.” The PART report and my response will provide the roadmap for starting 2022 in a positive way to address racism and make real progress towards equity, diversity, and inclusion at Acadia.

I want to thank the PART members for their incredible contribution to this critical subject. My sincere thanks to the Co-Chairs, Rev. Dr. Marjorie Lewis and Ms. Patricia McCulloch; Vice-Chair, Ms. Zabrina Whitman; and Elder Dr. Joe Michael, Acadia’s Elder in Residence, for their leadership, wisdom and guidance throughout this process.

I look forward to working with you all to deliver the hopes and dreams of the PART that will see Acadia become a truly anti-racist university that consistently welcomes and supports diversity and inclusion.

With very best wishes,

Peter

Dr. Peter Ricketts
President and Vice-Chancellor
