Scholarships & Financial Assistance

With education costs on the rise, enhancing student assistance is a top priority for Acadia. Each year, we award more than $4 million to students in the form of scholarships, scholar-bursaries, bursaries, awards, and prizes. By maintaining a strong scholarship and financial assistance program, we are able to attract, retain and support our students.

As a donor to scholarships and financial assistance, you can direct your gift toward: general award funds or awards for specific departments, faculties, research, or athletic teams; any existing named awards; or you can create a personal legacy by establishing a named award yourself. By supporting scholarships and financial assistance, you can help to ensure access to all of the rewards of an Acadia education.

Roberts-Vincent Entrance Award

Award of up to $1,000 | Eligibility: Prince Edward Island

The Roberts-Vincent Entrance Award will be offered annually in the amount of $1,000 to a student from Prince Edward Island entering full-time study, in any discipline, at Acadia University. The University may offer the Award to a student from another Maritime province should no student from PEI qualify. The Award has been established to recognize, memorialize, and pay tribute to Dr. and Mrs. Roberts through the kindness and generosity of their children and grandchildren. Dr. Athol L. Roberts, BA ’43, BSc ’49 and E. Ruth Vincent, BA ’44, BEd ‘73 met at Acadia, eventually married and settled on PEI where Dr. Roberts maintained a long and successful medical practice. Known as a kind and gentle physician who became the first president of the Canadian Medical Association from PEI, Dr. Roberts was also a member of the Acadia Board of Governors from 1968 until 1980. Ruth (Vincent) Roberts was the third generation of her family to attend Acadia. She had a very strong interest in learning disabilities, graduating with her second degree (BEd) on the same day as her son David. Ruth was a key driver in the formation of the Canadian and the PEI learning disabilities associations, serving on the inaugural board of both organizations. To date, five generations of this family have graduated from Acadia.
