Choosing First Year Courses

Establishing the best first year schedule helps you set the foundation for a successful Acadia experience. To help with this, your department has recommended the courses you should register for in your first year. Academic advising is available at any stage should you need it.

First Year at a Glance

Required Courses

You should choose 6hrs at the 1000 level in Philosophy.


Your choice of courses totalling 24 credit hours. These courses can include some of your Arts Core requirements, perhaps the required English courses, or a science course, of something from the social sciences. You're also free, and encouraged, to sample courses outside of Philosophy and the Arts Core in your first year.

You will need to register for the required courses above (6h of 1000-level PHIL), and for your 24h of electives.
