On Tuesday, November 28, Acadia University is celebrating Giving Tuesday Canada, part of a global giving movement, and it’s going to be sweet!
This year, for #GivingTuesdayCa, Acadia’s fundraising focus is on one of our longest-serving community programs – S.M.I.L.E. For more than 30 years, Acadia students have given back to the community by volunteering countless hours to help children, youth, and adults with disabilities. They focus on developing abilities while having fun.
We want to say thank you and make sure the program has the funding it needs to support the 275 community participants and 465 student-volunteers with equipment and opportunities.
Our goal is to raise $3,000 – and we have help thanks to a generous matching donor. We also want to get 1,500 views of our video that tells the S.M.I.L.E. story. (We will share the video on social media channels on Giving Tuesday and we hope you will watch and share it, too!)
Acadia’s food service provider, Chartwells, has joined us as a partner, so there’s going to be free cookies as S.M.I.L.E. volunteers hit campus hotspots on Giving Tuesday!
It’s our way to give thanks to our community. It is also a chance for our community to thank our S.M.I.L.E. student-volunteers for giving their time and talents to others in a very unselfish way.
Most importantly, please donate online, or drop by the Wu Welcome Centre at Alumni Hall to make a gift by cheque, debit, or credit card.
Programs like S.M.I.L.E. need financial support. Why not give on Giving Tuesday?
Thank you for continuing to be part of Acadia’s #BestFamily!
