January 31, 2020 (12:30 pm - 1:30 pm)

Location: BAC 237 (second floor)

In our first Lunchtime Learning Series session of 2020, Dr. Michelle Boyd will offer a preface to Symphony Nova Scotia's upcoming concert for Acadia's Performing Arts Series. This free lecture is open to the general public. For complete information, please visit the Lunchtime Learning Series website.

Inspired by the concept of the European “Grand Tour”—a rite of passage for many of England’s young elite—Symphony Nova Scotia’s upcoming concert will take listeners on a tour spanning England, France, Italy and Germany to enjoy music from the Baroque. This presentation will be your traveler’s guide: using musical examples and giving particular attention to the Italian inspirations behind much of this music, Dr. Boyd will introduce you to the genres, styles, and composers you will encounter along this delightful musical journey.
