Moment of Silence for Flight 752

January 15, 2020 (2:00 pm)

Location: Where you are, or join an informal gathering in University Hall

Please join us for a moment of silence on Wednesday, January 15, at 2pm AST.

Dear Acadia Community,

The higher education sector in Canada is a tightly-knit community, and many of our sister institutions are mourning unspeakable losses after the Ukrainian Airlines plane crash in Iran. In response, Universities Canada is leading a nation-wide initiative to demonstrate support and solidarity at a time when it is badly needed.

I invite you to join universities across our country in a moment of silence at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, to acknowledge this tragedy and reaffirm our common humanity.

Please respect this moment of silence wherever you are. Or, if you would like to attend, I will be hosting an informal gathering in the lobby of University Hall. We will stand together to offer our sympathy, compassion, and support.

If you would like to show your solidarity, please follow Acadia’s Facebook and Twitter accounts to share the statement from Universities Canada. If you need support, please make use of counselling services for students and employees.

Thank you and take care,

Peter
