Student workshop: Overcoming Adversity & Owning Your Truth

February 17, 2022 (6:30 pm - 8:00 pm)

Location: KC Irving Centre — Auditorium

For this year's Black History Month, all students are invited to this Save Me Save We Health and Wellness workshop!

For the past two years, we have been living with constant unpredictability, rapid changes, and physical and emotional restrictions. It is no secret that the pandemic has taken a toll on each one of us. More than ever, having the ability to be present, slow down and bring the dizziness of our worries into focus is crucial to our well-being.

The global theme for Black History Month 2022 is Health and Wellness. Acadia University alumnus Junior Moaku (Founder of Save Me Save We) and Tychon Carter-Newman (Winner of Big Brother Canada 2021) are touring the Maritimes to present their workshop, Overcoming Adversity & Owning Your Truth. This captivating personal development workshop gives students the opportunity to explore techniques and habits to increase their emotional resilience, manage their stress and anxiety in the midst of adversity, and tips to boldly live in our truth and be our most authentic self!

Learners will be able to:

  • Define their emotional boundaries and their mental health tipping point
  • Apply assertiveness techniques in their daily lives
  • Apply techniques to overcome adversity
  • Build or influence a more inclusive community

Refreshments will be provided at the beginning of this event. Please note that COVID-19 protocols will be followed.
