WISE Acadia & Wise Acadia Students hope you can join us on November 6th from 7 - 9:30 p.m. for 'WISE in Three Acts: Past, Present and Future.' It’s an evening of celebration of Women in Science and Engineering (including honouring the recent Nobel recipients), networking, and socializing at the @AcadiaU Fountain Commons - with snacks, lemonade & cake!
7:00 to 8:30:
- Welcome and closing remarks by WISE Acadia Students (Samantha MacPherson, Samantha Teichman & Yvonne Lunn)
- Women in Science and the Nobel Prize (Dr. Randy Lynn Newman)
- The science behind the two recent Nobel prizes awarded to Dr. Elizabeth Strickland (Physics) & Dr. Frances Arnold (Chemistry) given by Acadia faculty members, Anna Keifte and Dr. Elizabeth Gillis
- Poetry readings related to WISE (Dr. Wanda Campbell)
- Remarks on the future state of Women in Science at Acadia (Dr. Suzie Currie, Dean of Faculty of Pure and Applied Science)
8:30 to 9:30: Networking & Socializing with snacks (hot and cold) and cold beverages
