Acadia one of Canada's best says Maclean's university rankings 2014

Acadia University has been named one of the top undergraduate schools in Canada by Maclean's magazine in its 2014 University Rankings issue, released today and set to be on newsstands tomorrow.

“Acadia’s rare combination of academic challenge and campus and community support offers students an opportunity to excel inside and outside their classrooms,’ says Ray Ivany, Acadia’s President and Vice Chancellor. “Acadia has a long tradition of academic excellence and has consistently been ranked among Canada’s top primarily undergraduate institutions in the annual Maclean’s survey.

“The choice of which post-secondary institution to attend remains one of the most important life decisions for young men and women.” he says. “We believe that the Maclean’s rankings represents one source of information that helps students understand the value of the small high-quality, high-engagement university model that is the hallmark of Acadia.”

Acadia Students’ Union President Matt Rios agrees. "Acadia has been in a class of its own in regards to providing the best undergraduate education in this country. By challenging and helping grow every student who walks onto this campus,” he says.

“Our students transform into global citizens who succeed in every field and discipline. For 175 years, Acadia University has been a place that values the individual, a value that is often hard to find in universities in Canada. I am certain my university experience would not have been what it is if I had not come to this institution."

In the 23 years that Maclean's has published its annual comparisons, Acadia has been ranked in the top three primarily undergraduate category 20 times despite multiple changes to the evaluation methods. Acadia consistently ranks above the national average for key student satisfaction elements such as faculty-student interaction, active and collaborative learning, and supportive campus environment measured in the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE).
