Action-packed Welcome Week 2010

Welcome Week at Acadia University is a time for new students to learn about our magnificent campus and community, meet new people and make friendships that will last a lifetime and get ready for the new experience of a university classroom.

Welcome Week 2010 promises to be an action-packed and unforgettable experience. The list of events has been planned by Acadia and Acadia Student Union staff and will be led by carefully selected upper level students with enthusiasm and an Acadia spirit that is unmistakably proud. You definitely do not want to miss out!

The treasures new students will uncover will be academic, extra-curricular and social. Welcome Week is set up as a great opportunity for students to come together in a fun, friendly, and, above all, welcoming atmosphere. Its schedule is designed to provide a comfortable community setting for all new students, allowing them and their families to adjust to the overwhelming feeling of beginning a new experience.

Welcome Week is a perfect opportunity to ask anything of the student leaders who will guide you through the journey. These are students who have excelled in academics, extra-curricular, and athletics and are enthusiastic promoters of Acadia and its close-knit community of students, faculty and staff. ??

Acadia is proud of its efforts to help new students make the transition to university, but here's what some of our current students have to say about their experience:

"I met some of my best friends of my life during my first days at Acadia, so the decision to come back as an orientation leader to be a part of helping others do the same was an easy one."
Hillary Arenburg (Frosh Class of 2008, New Student Orientation Leader 2009, Arrival and Survival 2010)

"I'd describe Welcome week as a chance to be fully immersed into life at Acadia. Not only do you meet and become quick friends with the new students and many returning students in your residence, but you're taught about all of Acadia's traditions."
Emily Fraser (Frosh Class of 2009 and New Student Orientation Leader 2010)

"Acadia University, nestled safely in the Wolfville community is considered by its alumni to be one of the best spots in the world. This is our chance to show you our favorite spot and we know that you will fall in love with it too."
Brynne Sinclair-Waters, '09

"I showed up to welcome week not knowing a single person and left with what would become a crew of best friends destined for many great things."
Mark Frank, '08, '10
