Information Session on Permanent Residency

April 2, 2019 (5:00 pm)

Location: KCIC Auditorium, 32 University Avenue

Representatives from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and the Nova Scotia Office of immigration (NSOI) will be making a special visit on campus to explain the ways international students and graduates can apply to become permanent residents of Canada.

First of all, you may ask what is a permanent resident(PR)?

According to the Government of Canada: “a permanent resident is someone who has been given permanent resident status by immigrating to Canada, but is not a Canadian citizen. Permanent residents are citizens of other countries”.

Permanent residents can live and work in Canada without a Visa or Work Permit.

To find out more about permanent resident status, please visit the Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s website: http://www.cic.gc.ca/English/newcomers/about-pr.asp

WHEN?  Tuesday, April 2nd from 5:00pm - 6:30pm

WHERE?  KCIC Auditorium

Immigration Officers will present and take questions on:

  • How the Express Entry system works
  • How to apply for permanent residence
  • Temporary resident status – study and work permits, temporary resident visas
  • Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP)
  • Eligibility rules and when to apply

Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to listen to federal and provincial immigration officers talking about how you as an international student can become a PR of Canada! This would also be the best opportunity to get your immigration questions answered directly by the government immigration officers.
