The Department of Safety and Security is excited to announce this year’s recipient of the Constable Heidi Stevenson Memorial Award: Catherine Kadiri. Catherine is a third-year student from Nigeria currently pursuing her BBA at Acadia and an exemplary member of our Campus Patrol team. When asked what the award means to her, Catherine shared the following:
“I am overwhelmed with gratitude to have been selected to receive the Constable Heidi Stevenson Memorial Award. Having worked at the Department of Safety and Security for the past year, I can safely say that I have genuinely had my best work experiences, and professional development at this department. I would personally like to thank the department of Safety and Security for creating a safe and positive work environment for all of its employees, and I also thank you for the recommendation for this award. I would also like to take the time to remember Constable Heidi Stevenson, who was a brilliant woman with such an outstanding passion for police work. Again, I am sincerely honored by this award, thank you very much.”
The Constable Heidi Stevenson Memorial Award is granted annually to a student entering the final year of a degree program who has served at least one year as a member of Safety & Security, who is intending to pursue a career in law enforcement. Established in 2020 in honour of Constable Heidi Stevenson (‘93), who gave her life in the line of duty on April 19, 2020 and awarded on the recommendation of the Director of Safety & Security.
