Acadia University Counselling Services

Support is available to you through the Acadia University Counselling Centre, located in the Old SUB. We are here to help. We're open Monday-Friday from 8:30am-12pm & 1:30pm-4:30pm. To book an appointment please call 902.585.1246 or email counselling@acadiau.ca.

Acadia Women's Centre

This peer-run centre that offers support to students and offers them a safe and inclusive space to talk about issues within Acadia’s community.

Acadia Mental Health Initiative

This peer-run initiative that seeks to promote mental wellness on campus through a combination of peer support and advocacy.

Acadia Pride

Acadia Pride is a peer run service aimed at providing an outlet for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-gendered, two-spirited, and queer (LGBT2IQ) individuals, as well as friends, and allies.

Acadia Personal Support Line

Call or text 902.599.2284 for a peer-run phone/text support line for students, open Thursday to Saturday, 7pm-1am.

Good2Talk

Call 1.833.292.3698 for a free, confidential helpline that provides professional counselling and support for university and college students.

NS Mental Health Crisis Line

Dial 1.888.429.8167 for this toll free, 24/7 services delivered by the Mental Health Mobile Crisis Team (MHMCT). This provincial service provides crisis intervention for children, youth, and adults experiencing a mental health crisis or mental distress

Dalhousie University Sexual Assault and Harassment Phone Line

This service offers confidential and anonymous, non-judgemental, active listening and support to anyone who has experienced or has been affected by sexualized violence. The Phone Line can be reached at 902.425.1066 between 12pm and 12am daily, 7 days a week.

Chrysalis House

Chrysalis House is a local, non-profit grassroots organization that provides shelter, support, counselling, advocacy, and outreach for abused women and their children in Kings, Annapolis, and West Hants counties. Services are available for women who have been psychologically, emotionally, physically, and/or sexually abused. You can call their 24 Hour Help Line at 902.679.1922 or toll-free at 1.800.264.8682 

Avalon Sexual Assault Centre

The Avalon Sexual Assault Centre is a feminist organization working to eliminate sexual assault/abuse, and to change the current socio-political culture that fosters sexism, social injustice and other forms of oppression. Its services are available in the HRM area only. Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 12:30 pm and 1:30 to 4:30 pm, or call 902.422.4240

Acadia University Health Centre

Acadia University has its own student health clinic located on-campus in Dennis House, West Side. The Clinic offers physician services by appointment that can be booked online.

Valley Regional Hospital

The closest hospital to Acadia is located at 150 Exhibition St., Kentville and operates an emergency department 24/7. If you need help immediately, call 911.

Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Program

Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANEs) are registered nurses who have completed specialized education and clinical preparation in medical forensic care for patients who have experienced sexual assault or abuse. The Red Door

The Red Door is a confidential sexual health service located in Kentville that offers health education and health promotion to youth 13-30 years of age. The team of doctors and nurses can help you with a variety of sexual health related issues.

Nova Scotia 811

Call 811 to talk to a registered nurse around the clock, seven days a week. 811 service is available in over 125 languages.
