The Green Book

February 1, 2017 - February 1, 2017 (1:00 pm)

Location: Quiet Reading Room via Live Stream from Cape Breton University

On Wednesday February 1st at 1pm, a dramatic reading and workshop of Juanita Peters’ play The Green Book is being performed at Cape Breton University.  This will be live-streamed to Acadia in the Quiet Reading Room of the Vaughan Memorial Library.

This event is part of African Heritage Month.  The reading and workshop is by the author/director Juanita Peters and the full cast of actors.

The play tells the story of a couple from Weymouth Falls, Nova Scotia who visit family in Los Angeles, in the 1950s.

The Green Book is inspired by a guidebook from the era called The Negro Motorist Green Book.  This travel guide gave black tourists in the US information on how to travel and get the basic necessities such as food and gas – safely!

There will be a question and answer session with the author and actors after the play.  Live streamers can tweet questions to @CBU_Library.

We look forward to seeing you in the Quiet Reading Room, in the Vaughan Memorial Library.
