Campus Advisory Update - Threatening social media post

Dear campus community,

I am writing to give you an update on the social media threat campus advisory that was shared with you today at 9:51 a.m. The Kings RCMP has released a statement with additional information regarding the incident. You can find the statement at the following link: .

The RCMP statement says the following:

Kings District RCMP is investigating a threat to Acadia University for the fall of 2023.

On June 6, 2023, Kings District RCMP received a report of a threat of a possible shooting at Acadia University. The threat was received in an email by Acadia University Safety and Security and, based on initial investigation, the information concerning the threat was being circulated on a social media platform. The threat indicated that a shooting would occur at Acadia University in the fall of 2023.

The investigation is ongoing at this time and Kings District RCMP is working collaboratively with Acadia University Safety and Security with regard to safety planning. To date, the threat has not been corroborated or verified.
