Making your worklife, work
Acadia psychologist Dr. Michael Leiter has been awarded a $1.4 million Canada Research Chair to continue his investigation into the world of work. In a recent Globe and Mail feature, Dr. Leiter explains burnout is the topic your boss doesn’t want to talk about.
“With the renewal of my Canada Research Char, I will continue my quest for ways to improve workplace communities and to help people find wellbeing and fulfillment at work,” said Dr. Leiter, who focuses on organizational health and wellbeing. “It is a great opportunity to find out what really makes a difference in worklife.”
His research initiative is one of 132 newly-awarded or renewed Canada Research Chairs at 36 Canadian postsecondary institutions. The total funding announcement of $124.5 million was recently made in Ottawa by the Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister of State for Science and Technology.
“Our Government is committed to investing in research programs that continue to have a positive effect on Canada’s economy and that touch the lives of Canadians,” said Minister Goodyear. “We are focused on what matters—creating jobs and economic growth. By supporting innovation, we are not only encouraging cutting-edge research but also help bring promising ideas to the marketplace to keep our economy strong in the future.”
