The Poetic Tree: Embracing Our Nature – an Interactive Art Installation
October 2, 2024 (1:30 pm - 3:30 pm)
Location: Woodland Trails
Students in Professor Leidl’s class, Art 3033: Art and Identity, create a Kesalul! I-WIL Commit to ReconciliACTION art installation for you to explore and enjoy, called The Poetic Tree: Embracing Our Nature
Acadia University students delve into their thoughts and feelings about climate change and their own identity in connection to nature. This includes an exploration of childhood to their present memories and experiences. Students have chosen a tree they feel most connected to and written a poem about their tree, weaving their experiences of nature together.
The poems will be temporarily attached to trees.
This event is an interactive installation and includes poetry reading, and an opportunity to embrace personal trees and those of others. This is a powerful symbolic gesture of acceptance of differences and love of self, others and the very trees that nurture us.
Take a walk along the Woodland Trails to enjoy the students’ interactive artistic installation (just beyond the Westwood entrance).
