Acadia Alumni Book Club Discussion - Book 1

April 25, 2022

Location: Virtual

Tired of the pandemic?

Looking for a chance to come together as a community and talk about something different for a change?

We’ve got you covered. Introducing the Acadia Alumni Book Club.

Who doesn’t love a good book? There are all kinds of stories out there, so let’s shine a big bright light on alumni and other authors and have some fun at the same time!

The Acadia Alumni Book Club, which launched on Feb. 1, 2022, will showcase three titles per year, the first being A Matter of Equality: The Life’s Work of Senator Don Oliver, the highly anticipated autobiography of former Canadian Senator, lawyer, Acadia Class of 1960 and 2007 Honorary Degree recipient, and outspoken advocate for diversity and minority advancement. The book details Don Oliver’s life as a Black man working within the system to bring change to Nova Scotia and beyond.

Everyone is welcome to join the conversation, and participants have until April 22 to obtain and read Dr. Oliver’s memoir. Registrants will then join Alumni Association Board Director Ted Upshaw (’80) virtually on April 25 to chat, share thoughts, observations and opinions on the book.
