A few firsts for alumni at Florida event

Acadia Alumni brightened an already sunny Florida day on March 21 at a luncheon with Acadia’s new President and Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Jeff Hennessy (’99). President Emeritus Ray Ivany was amongst the group at GROVE in Lakewood Ranch to welcome Dr. Hennessy on his first visit to the state as Acadia’s President.

Alyson Campbell Roy (’04) attended her first alumni event with her parents, Donna and Douglas Campbell (’71), who were visiting Florida from Nova Scotia. Andy Robinson (’71), a fourth-generation alum, was also in attendance. Truly, in some families, the Acadia roots run deep.

One notable moment from the afternoon came when Vice-President Advancement Nancy Handrigan (’92), who joined Dr. Hennessy on the trip, delighted several alumni donors by personally delivering thank-you letters from students who benefitted from their generosity.

These alumni could be forgiven if, for a moment, they thought they were back on the quad, laughing and sharing stories at what was a truly memorable event.
