Ann McCain Evans (centre), Chair of the McCain Foundation, was on hand Friday, Nov. 4, 2011 at the K.C. Irving Environmental Science Centre at Acadia to meet this year’s Harrison McCain Award and Scholarship recipients. The event was an opportunity for McCain Evans to present scholarships as part of a five-year, $1 million Harrison McCain Foundation program that enhances faculty excellence in research, instruction and community engagement. Recipients included (from left to right): Jessica Gallant, Jessica Penney, Simone Spears, Kyla Crocker and Andreanna Brown. Harrison McCain graduated from Acadia University in 1949 with a degree in economics and was a lifelong supporter of Acadia and its students prior to his death in 2004. As a student, McCain was instrumental in establishing Acadia's original Students' Union Building, chairing a student committee that raised the final funds to allow the building to open in 1950.
