Campaign for Acadia Receives Outstanding Support from BMO Financial Group - $1.25M gift to aid students and programs at Acadia University

The relationship between Acadia University and BMO Financial Group dates back more than a century, and BMO has a long and distinguished history of philanthropic support for Acadia students -- generous scholarships for undergraduates, sponsorships for student-athletes, and contributions to enrich campus life are all part of BMO’s ongoing impact at Acadia.

Now, as part of the Campaign for Acadia, BMO has opened another exciting chapter in this long-standing partnership with an extraordinary gift of $1,250,000, further enriching the student experience over the course of the next decade.

“BMO Financial Group is keenly aware of the value of a post-secondary education,” says University President and Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Peter Ricketts. “Our friends and allies at BMO understand the challenges that today’s students face, and we are so grateful to them for taking a leadership role by supporting those who choose to excel academically, athletically, and as campus leaders and community volunteers. I extend sincere thanks to them for their very generous gift to Acadia.”

“At BMO we recognize the value of access to education, especially in today’s competitive employment market and economic landscape,” said the Honourable Scott Brison, P.C., Vice-Chair, Investment & Corporate Banking, BMO Financial Group (pictured). “Offering additional financial support to students striving for academic and athletic excellence at Acadia University is one way we aspire to Boldly Grow the Good for a new generation. We are proud to continue our long-standing partnership with Acadia University. “

According to Dr. Rod Morrison, Vice-President, Advancement, “we’re extremely proud and appreciative to announce that this gift will support the BMO Financial Group Entrance Scholarships, BMO Financial Group Athletics Awards, and a BMO Partnership Fund that will bring new support to a range of activities and initiatives across campus – all beginning this year.”

Nancy McCain (’82), Campaign Chair, says, “we’ve enjoyed a wonderful relationship with BMO Financial Group for a great many years, and it’s wonderful to have them as our partners in the Campaign for Acadia. We’re deeply grateful for their generosity to our students and student-athletes, and for their investment in Acadia’s unique student experience.”
