English Language Institute

Our program develops language, academic, and critical thinking skills through student-led projects that explore campus life, the community, and Canadian culture.

The Acadia University English Language Institute is made up of five 2-week modules, each with a unique academic theme. Students may choose to attend one or more of the program modules. Each module features:

  • Intensive English language instruction
  • Hands-on learning in the classroom, on campus, and in the community
  • Student-led research projects and academic presentations
  • Excursions to amazing places filled with culture and natural beauty

  • Language instruction, workshops, guided tours, and community visits related to program themes
  • Evening activities on campus and in the community
  • Weekly off-campus excursions
  • Residence accommodations (self-catering) on Acadia’s beautiful campus
  • Airport transfer to and from campus
  • Access to Acadia’s Athletics Complex
  • Emergency medical insurance
  • CEFR language level assessment
  • Certificate of completion at program conclusion
  • Homestay accommodations, group rates, and group meal plans may also be available
 

Themes

Themes will be explored through classroom learning, student-led research, and campus and community visits. Themes include:

  • Local lore and history
  • The natural environment
  • Art and culture of Nova Scotia
  • Food, agriculture, and sustainability
  • Leadership and community development

Fees

  • Application Fee: $30
  • Program Fee: $2700 per two-week module

Fees include tuition, accommodations, insurance, and airport transfer to campus. Meals are not included.
