Break the silence. End the stigma.

November 23, 2015

We are super excited to announce the third annual campaign to Break the Silence and End the Stigma at Acadia!

Join us in our fight to end the stigma surrounding mental illness and help us show our peers that there is support all around them. It’s time to make some noise Acadia!

End the StigmaHOW TO PARTICIPATE:
- On this day, we ask those who live with mental illness, whether personally or because someone they know and love lives with mental illness, to help us take a stand against the stigma by wearing our T-shirt for the entire day and using it as a tool to start conversations and offer peer support

WHERE:
-we will be handing out FREE T-shirts in the BAC near Quiznos from 9am-1pm

***We will be gathering for a big group photo in support of Acadia’s fight to end the stigma on our campus at 430PM on the U-Hall steps. Please come out if you get a shirt. There is strength in numbers and we need you to help us make this work!

-If you have a shirt from previous years, please wear that one to allow more students to participate

This year’s campaign has been fully funded by the Acadia Wellness Fund and the ASU which means that we will be handing out 500 FREE T-shirts

We ask professors, students, and faculty members to wear their T-shirts proudly for the entire day to:

-End the stigma by using the T-shirts as a statement piece and as a tool to help create peer support networks

-Bring the 1 in 5 statistics of mental illness to the ground & to create a visual representation of those living with mental illness on campus

-To tie our tight knit community here at Acadia together to show those struggling in silence that there is support all around them
