FMN #12: "L'Aile ou la cuisse" (The Wing or the Thigh)

Wednesday, April 6th | 5:30 pm | BAC 241

L'Aile ou la Cuisse (The Wing or the Thigh) is a French movie released in 1976, directed by Claude Zidi (The Big Store, Association of Wrongdoers) and starring Louis de Funès (Delusions of Grandeur, The Mad Adventures of Rabbi Jacob) and Coluche (So Long, Stooge, Inspector Blunder).

Charles Duchemin is the editor of the famous Guide Duchemin, who ranks the best restaurants in France. He is about to enter the prestigious Académie française, and therefore needs his son Gérard to take over so that he can retire. While teaching his son how to become a food critic, Duchemin must face a threat on the reputation of French cuisine: Jacques Tricatel, a.k.a. "the Napoleon of agribusiness", a successful and arrogant buisnessman, wants to invest in restaurants in order to find a new market for his industrial food goods...

The Wing or the Thigh has become a classic popular French comedy of the 1970s, thanks to the combined talents of Louis de Funès and Coluche, who were among the best comedy actors back then. It is also a harsh criticism of agribusiness, which is still a burning issue nowadays.
