Building Your Small Business New Program for Rural Entrepreneurs

October 24, 2017 - Acadia Entrepreneurship Centre (AEC) and Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) have launched a new program to support rural based entrepreneurs in the Annapolis Valley and on the South Shore.

The Building Your Small Business Program is aimed at people in rural Nova Scotia who have been developing a business idea and need guidance to take it to the next level. This unique program will offer online courses, workshops and one-on-one mentorship to support individuals seeking to transform business concepts into reality.

“Our intent is to provide the support and guidance new entrepreneurs and small business owners need to launch or grow their business,” said Findlay MacRae, Executive Director, AEC. “Through this partnership with NSCC, we hope to encourage more people to explore entrepreneurship as a way of boosting the rural economy.”

The 10-month program will provide a tailored approach to entrepreneurial education. Participants will validate their business idea using best practices and business models, work through business challenges, gain experience, and complete a plan to achieve their business goals.

“I believe there’s an entrepreneurial spirit in everyone that can influence and ignite economic prosperity,” says NSCC President Don Bureaux. “This partnership is one way we can help empower innovative problem solvers who’ll boost our economy and our communities.”

Registration is now open for the new program which will run from January to October 2018. The cost for the program is approximately $2,100.
