Wolfville, NS – Acadia University’s Board of Governors and members of the Acadia University Faculty Association (AUFA) have ratified a new collective agreement covering the period July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2014. The new agreement successfully concludes contract negotiations that began on May 3.

“I want to congratulate members of the negotiating teams for demonstrating their commitment to Acadia by reaching an agreement in advance of the upcoming school year through determined collective bargaining,” said Paul Jewer, Chair of Acadia’s Board of Governors. “This is an important achievement for the Acadia community and we are now well positioned to further strengthen our reputation for outstanding teaching, research and community engagement.”
"From the outset of negotiations, AUFA was determined to achieve a contract through collective bargaining," said Dr. Wendy Bedingfield, President of AUFA. “We recognized the importance of reaching an agreement that would contribute to a viable university community. I want to congratulate members of both bargaining teams for accomplishing their goal of concluding an agreement quickly.”

“Both negotiating teams are to be commended for their excellent work,” said Ray Ivany, President and Vice-Chancellor of Acadia. “With this new, long-term agreement in place, we can now focus our full attention on the upcoming academic year and Acadia’s students, who will begin arriving in the next few weeks. We will be heading into the fall term with positive momentum and a new sense of confidence within our entire campus community.”
