Public Policy Forum honours Acadia President Ray Ivany

Acadia University President and Vice-Chancellor Ray Ivany was one of four influential Atlantic Canadians recognized by Canada’s Public Policy Forum for “inspirational work in improving government, business and civil society in our country.”

Newly-appointed Forum Chief Executive Officer Ed Greenspon made his first public appearance at Halifax’s Pier 21 as head of the independent, 180-member organization dedicated to improving the quality of government in Canada through dialogue among leaders from all sectors of Canadian society.

Mr. Ivany was introduced at the dinner by Treasury Board President and MP for Kings-Hants, the Honourable Scott Brison and was recognized by the Forum for his work as Chair of the Nova Scotia Commission on Building a New Economy and bringing forward its report – Now or Never: An Urgent Call to Action for Nova Scotians

Other prominent Atlantic Canadians honoured at the event included:

  • Peter Nicholson, former President of the Council of Canadian Academies as well as a former executive for BCE, Inc. and the Bank of Nova Scotia.
  • Gerry Pond, highly-regarded New Brunswick-based venture capitalist and co-founder of Mariner Partners and East Valley Ventures.
  • Chris Power, former CEO of Nova Scotia’s Capital District Health Authority and now CEO of the Canadian Patient Safety Institute based in Edmonton.

Canada’s Public Policy Forum was founded in Calgary in 1987 and its daily operations are guided from its office in Ottawa. Its mission is to build bridges and transfer knowledge across sectors through constructive dialogue. Its approach helps catalyze good governance and public service leadership.
