Nova Scotia Identity Card


While living in Nova Scotia, it is recommended that you obtain a Nova Scotia Identification card. The ID is very useful as it will include both your date of birth and your picture. Identification cards can be obtained from Service Nova Scotia a division of Access Nova Scotia.

To obtain an ID Card you must bring the following to Service Nova Scotia:

  • Your passport with valid study permit.
  • Acadia ID Card.
  • One more piece of Identification - This could be your bank card (which must be signed).
  • The fee of $17.70.

Service Nova Scotia is located in the Access Nova Scotia Building in Kentville at 5 Shylah Drive. Kings Transit is a busing service located here in the valley. There is a bus stop directly across from the Access Nova Scotia building in Kentville. The trip takes 15 minutes and costs $3.50. When travelling on Kings Transit be sure to mention to your bus driver where you intend to depart and he can make sure you arrive at the Access Nova Scotia Building.

Here is a highlighted route (in blue) showing the route from the corner of Highland Avenue here in Wolfville (bus stop at the Baptist Church across from the BAC) to 5 Shylah Drive in Kentville.

If you are travelling by car you will take Exit 11 travelling West on Highway 101. The Exit ramp for 5 Shylah Drive is #14. You will turn right off this ramp. You are now on Park Street. Access Nova Scotia is located past the Kentville Industrial Park on the right hand side.
