We strive to make all students feel safe and welcome. If you would like someone to talk to or if you have questions about your sexuality or identity, we encourage you to consider speaking with the fantastic people on campus at the Counselling Centre or Peer Support, including Acadia Pride. All members of the University community have the right to learn and work in an environment freefrom discrimination, sexual harassment, and personal harassment. Personal harassment, sexual harassment, and discrimination are demeaning and degrading behaviours. These can affect anindividual’s self-esteem and can have a negative impact on performance at work or in class. Thesecan make an individual feel angry, powerless, and fearful.
Acadia University is committed to creating and maintaining an environment free from Sexual Violence and to promoting greater awareness of Sexual Violence through education. Acadia will create an environment where sexual violence is not tolerated, where everyone is responsible to take action to prevent against acts of Sexual Violence, and where complainants choose their course of action (subject to the necessary disclosure of confidential information relating to incidents of Sexual Violence in specific circumstances as outlined in this document), and where complainants are supported and treated with respect.
