Acadia ALERT - Campus Closed (Weather)

Today, Tuesday, January 27, 2026, Acadia University will remain closed, with the exception of residences and Wheelock Dining Hall, due to the current campus and travel conditions. Wheelock Dining Hall may adjust their hours and any change in hours will be communicated through Residence Life.

Employees and students are not expected to come to campus and only employees deemed essential are required to report to work. Non-essential employees are not expected to work during the closure. Any events scheduled for today will be postponed or cancelled.

Updates will be posted on www.acadiau.ca and pre-recorded on Acadia’s Information Line: 902-585-4636 (585-INFO) and on 585 phone system voicemail. If you need emergency-related information, please contact the Department of Safety and Security by dialing 88 on all 585-phone systems, or by calling 902-585-1103.

Earthquakes in Turkey and Syria

In the wake of the earthquakes that struck Turkey and Syria earlier this week, we have witnessed tragic images of devastation and loss of life on an unimaginable scale. We would like to express our most sincere sympathy and concern for all of those affected around the world, and particularly for the students, staff and faculty within the Acadia community who have been impacted. The sheer magnitude of this tragedy is heartbreaking, and we want you all to know that we are here for you to help you cope with your grief. Many of you may need support, and we have resources on campus to assist you in this time of need.

For students seeking support:

  • The Acadia Counselling Centre is open Monday and Wednesday 8:30 am- 7:30 pm; Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 8:30 am- 4:30 pm (Closed for lunch from 12:00- 1:00 pm daily). Please visit the Counselling Centre website for more information.
