Acadia ALERT - Campus Closed (Weather)

Today, Tuesday, January 27, 2026, Acadia University will remain closed, with the exception of residences and Wheelock Dining Hall, due to the current campus and travel conditions. Wheelock Dining Hall may adjust their hours and any change in hours will be communicated through Residence Life.

Employees and students are not expected to come to campus and only employees deemed essential are required to report to work. Non-essential employees are not expected to work during the closure. Any events scheduled for today will be postponed or cancelled.

Computer Programming 1

Introduction to the field of computer science and computer programming. Topics include fundamental programming constructs, algorithms, and problem-solving. No programming experience required. 

Instructor: Andre Trudel
Prerequisites:
 NS Grade 12 Academic or Advanced Math (or equivalent) or Pre-calculus or 3h of mathematics.
Anti-requisites: Credit cannot be obtained for both COMP 1113 and COMP 1893.
Course Type: Online; Continuous-intake. Register anytime and learn at your own pace


This course will teach you to use Python, a language which is used extensively by the computer industry. You will learn to write properly structured documented programs, to manipulate multi-media programs, and to develop your own software package to manipulate picture and sound files.
