Acadia ALERT - Campus Closed (Weather)

Today, Tuesday, January 27, 2026, Acadia University will remain closed, with the exception of residences and Wheelock Dining Hall, due to the current campus and travel conditions. Wheelock Dining Hall may adjust their hours and any change in hours will be communicated through Residence Life.

Employees and students are not expected to come to campus and only employees deemed essential are required to report to work. Non-essential employees are not expected to work during the closure. Any events scheduled for today will be postponed or cancelled.

Mathematical Concepts 1

This course is designed for students planning a career in elementary education. Topics will include problem solving, logic and sets, algebra and functions, integers, rational numbers, decimals, percents, and real numbers. This course may not be used by students in science, business, economics, or mathematics to fulfill major or minor requirements.

In this course, you'll go beyond the concepts of math to explore the reasons why particular methods are used and how they work. You'll develop a greater understanding of how mathematics can be taught.

By completing the course, you'll build your confidence and comfort level with teaching mathematics in the future.
