Accessibility Statement

What is an Accessibility Statement?

An accessibility statement tells your students what they can expect in your course and classroom in terms of accessibility. It’s a written commitment to your students that you take accessibility seriously and value their contributions to an accessible environment. This statement should be included in your course syllabus, as it indicates your awareness, openness, and recognition of the importance of creating an inclusive educational environment.

Please see below an Accessibility Statement that you can uses in your course syllabus:

“Acadia University is dedicated to improving access to campus life for all students with disabilities. While we attempt to ensure that all courses are accessible, we recognize that there are barriers that need to be addressed on an individual basis. Students who require accommodations to complete coursework or otherwise fully participate in class should contact Accessible Learning Services directly as soon as possible.

Please visit Accessible Learning Services website or email them at accessible.learning@acadiau.ca for more information.”
