Campus extends restrictions until May 28

To the Acadia University community,

As the provincial government increases restrictions across Nova Scotia, Acadia University is extending our measures to do our part to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

The following measures, announced April 27 to May 12, will now be extended until at least May 28:
  • All classes and labs will remain remote delivery only until notified. The faculty will work with students to determine how they will continue their studies during this period.

  • All employees who can work from home are required to do so. No one should be on campus who is not deemed essential as on-campus support. Please contact your supervisor directly if you have questions.

  • Only research activity required to maintain health and safety and provide animal care is permitted on campus during this period. Please check with the deans for clarification.

  • The Vaughan Memorial Library will continue remote service and has curbside pickup as an option.

  • Campus facilities, including the Athletics Complex, will be closed until further notice. The Woodland Trails and Tower Community Park (including the skateboard area) remain open. Exceptions are in place for delivery services and individuals transporting students.

The dramatic increase in COVID-19 cases in Nova Scotia is concerning for our region and our province. We will regularly update Acadia’s COVID-19 information website to provide new information, and we will notify you of any changes to campus operations directly.

Nova Scotia Public Health provides guidelines on COVID-19 symptoms and testing. The website includes exposure site notices and tips to stay healthy and prevent the spread of viruses, including handwashing and staying home when you are sick. Please refer to this information, and if you feel ill, seek help by doing a self-assessment on the 811 website.

Remember, Public Health is asking us to get tested regularly and get the vaccine when it is our turn.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work through this situation.

Stay home and stay well.

Sincerely,

Dr. Peter Ricketts
President and Vice-Chancellor

Dr. Dale Keefe
Provost and Vice-President, Academic

Mr. Chris Callbeck
Vice-President, Administration and Finance, CFO
