Message to Residence: COVID-19 in New Brunswick

Acadia students,

As you may be aware, New Brunswick is currently facing a resurgence of COVID-19 with 66 new cases in the past 5 days and a number of public exposure notices. We are aware that some of you may have chosen to visit New Brunswick this weekend and, as such, are asking that all members of our community take additional precautions over the next two weeks.

If you were in New Brunswick and are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, have had a close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19, or believe yourself to be directly impacted by a public exposure notice, we would ask that you remain in New Brunswick and do not return to campus if you can. If you must return to Residence, please contact Safety and Security at 902-585-1103 before you arrive so that we can make arrangements for you.

Though we are planning to remain in stage 3 of our Residence plan for the time being (meaning that students will continue to be allowed to interact across different floors/sections), we are asking that all students take extra precautions including additional hand-washing/sanitizing, wearing masks at all times, cleaning washrooms after each use, and maintaining 2m (6ft) distance from others at all times. You will likely notice increased enforcement of COVID-19 guest, mask, and alcohol policies over the next two weeks in response to this.

If you develop symptoms of COVID-19, use the Nova Scotia COVID-19 Self-Assessment or call 811. If you are directed to self-isolate, please contact Safety and Security at 902-585-1103 for supplies and support.
