Scholarships & Financial Assistance


With education costs on the rise, enhancing student assistance is a top priority for Acadia. Each year, we award more than $4 million to students in the form of scholarships, scholar-bursaries, bursaries, awards, and prizes. By maintaining a strong scholarship and financial assistance program, we are able to attract, retain and support our students.

As a donor to scholarships and financial assistance, you can direct your gift toward: general award funds or awards for specific departments, faculties, research, or athletic teams; any existing named awards; or you can create a personal legacy by establishing a named award yourself. By supporting scholarships and financial assistance, you can help to ensure access to all of the rewards of an Acadia education.

Edyth and Ralph Dodds Scholar-Bursary

Scholar-Bursary | Eligibility: Pure and Applied Science, Prince Edward Island

The Edyth and Ralph Dodds Scholar-Bursary is awarded annually to an entering or returning student from Prince Edward Island who is in a Bachelor of Science degree program with a major in biology, chemistry, mathematics or physics. If, in any year, there is no eligible candidate, consideration may be given to a student with a major in English or theology. Preference will be given to a student from Summerside, Prince Edward Island. In the event that there are no candidates from Prince Edward Island, the award may be granted to a student from any of the Maritime provinces. The scholar-bursary is awarded on the basis of financial need and academic performance.

Esther M. Gardiner Memorial Award

Award | Eligibility: Entering first year, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island

Established through a bequest from Mrs. Gardiner’s estate, the award is made available to entering undergraduate students who were born in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick or Prince Edward Island commencing full-time study in any discipline at Acadia University. Other criteria for the award may be determined at the discretion of the University, including renewability, but include financial need and/or academic excellence. Two $10,000 awards shall be granted each year.
