Scholarships and Financial Assistance

With education costs on the rise, enhancing student assistance is a top priority for Acadia. Each year, we award more than $4 million to students in the form of scholarships, scholar-bursaries, bursaries, awards, and prizes. By maintaining a strong scholarship and financial assistance program, we are able to attract, retain and support our students.

As a donor to scholarships and financial assistance, you can direct your gift toward: general award funds or awards for specific departments, faculties, research, or athletic teams; any existing named awards; or you can create a personal legacy by establishing a named award yourself. Idella B. Cross Memorial Bursary

Bursary | Eligibility: Arts, Comparative Religion, Current 1st year, Current 2nd year, Current 3rd year, Current 4th year

The Idella B. Cross Memorial Bursary is provided through the generosity of Miss Grace E. Lohnes from the legacy left by Miss Idella B. Cross. It is available to a needy student taking a course or courses in Comparative Religion.

Ingram B. Oakes - University Entrance Scholarship

Scholarship | Eligibility: Entering first year

University Entrance Scholarships valued at $3500 each ($875 annually for up to four years) are awarded each year

Interdisciplinary Technology Award

Award of up to $6,500 | Eligibility: Pure and Applied Science, Computer Science

Established in 2019 by an appreciative Acadia alumnus, this award is granted to a full-time student enrolled in a Bachelor of Applied Computer Science degree, preferably from Nova Scotia. The award recognizes the importance of multiple disciplines in the pursuit of a more holistic view of technology, and is renewable with consideration for academic excellence and financial need. Value: $6,500 annually.

IODE Annie G. Murray Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship of up to $1,200 | Eligibility: Professional Studies, Education, Current 2nd year, Nova Scotia

The IODE Annie G. Murray Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a second-year student registered in a program leading to the Bachelor of Education degree. Preferably from Nova Scotia, the recipient must have demonstrated an interest adding to the quality of life of others through campus or community activities and have demonstrated financial need. The scholarship is made possible through the generosity of the Provincial Chapter of Nova Scotia IODE in memory of Annie G. Murray (Sem 1911). Miss Murray was a dedicated teacher and member of the IODE and was involved in many community activities.

Ira F. Dyas Bursary


The Ira F. Dyas Bursary with an annual value of $160 endowed by Mrs. E. C. Bennett of Parrsboro, Nova Scotia, in memory of her brother, the late Ira E. Dyas, M.D., is to be applied annually on tuition.

Isaac Chipman Scholarship


The Isaac Chipman Scholarship. An award of $470 a year awarded every second year for two years, was endowed by Mrs. Murray R. Chipman of Montreal, Quebec, to honour the memory of Isaac Chipman, scientist and humanist and one of the co founders of Acadia. It is to be awarded not earlier than the end of the second year to a student with high standing and great promise with a view to assisting them to complete the University course, the scholarship to be a credit one half on the fees of the junior year and one half on the fees of the senior year. Failure to maintain high standing throughout the junior year will result in the forfeiture of the scholarship during the senior year.

Isaac Judson Levy Scholarship


The Isaac Judson Levy Scholarship ($455) was established at the ten-year reunion of the Class of 1975. It is annually awarded to a superior senior student who has made significant contributions to university life and does not receive other major University funding. Dr. Levy (B.A. Acadia, 1931; B.D., S.T.M. Andover Newton Theological School, 1944, 1952; D.D. (Hon.) Acadia, 1956), served as Chaplain at Acadia from 1964 to 1975.
