With education costs on the rise, enhancing student assistance is a top priority for Acadia. Each year, we award more than $4 million to students in the form of scholarships, scholar-bursaries, bursaries, awards, and prizes. By maintaining a strong scholarship and financial assistance program, we are able to attract, retain and support our students.
As a donor to scholarships and financial assistance, you can direct your gift toward: general award funds or awards for specific departments, faculties, research, or athletic teams; any existing named awards; or you can create a personal legacy by establishing a named award yourself. Scholarship of up to $525 | Eligibility: Arts, English, French, German, History, Politics, Current 1st year, Current 2nd year, Current 3rd year, Current 4th year
The Margaret L. Ford Scholarships in English (4), History (4), Political Science (4), French (4) and German (4) were endowed by the late Ms. Ford (B.A. Acadia, 1922; M.A. Toronto, 1930) who was born in Wolfville and was a distinguished teacher in schools in New Jersey, Massachusetts and Ontario. They are awarded annually to the top students in years one, two, three and four in English, history, political science, French and German.
Bursary of up to $1,000 | Eligibility: Arts, History
Established in 2016 by family and friends of Matthew Kennedy, this bursary is awarded to a student in any year who is majoring in history and has financial need.
Matthew and his wife Lindsay (Connolly) graduated from Acadia in 2006 and 2007 respectively, and moved to Calgary where he worked as a Private Banker for TD Bank. Matt enjoyed hockey and softball, fishing and outdoor life at his cottage, and most of all his wife and daughter Ella.
