Scholarships & Financial Assistance
With education costs on the rise, enhancing student assistance is a top priority for Acadia. Each year, we award more than $4 million to students in the form of scholarships, scholar-bursaries, bursaries, awards, and prizes. By maintaining a strong scholarship and financial assistance program, we are able to attract, retain and support our students.
As a donor to scholarships and financial assistance, you can direct your gift toward: general award funds or awards for specific departments, faculties, research, or athletic teams; any existing named awards; or you can create a personal legacy by establishing a named award yourself. By supporting scholarships and financial assistance, you can help to ensure access to all of the rewards of an Acadia education.

Rea Clark Scholarship
Scholarship | Eligibility: Athletics, Current 2nd year, Current 3rd year, Current 4th year, Entering final Year
The Rea Clark Scholarship is established by his family to honour his contributions to Acadia during his time as a student-athlete, from 1962-66; and his impact during subsequent decades spent as a coach and teacher. It is awarded on the recommendation of the Director of Athletics to a student-athlete, in their second year or above, who live out a commitment to giving 100% in their schooling, sport, and involvement in their local community. Preference will be given to students demonstrating financial need.
Rea captained the Axemen hockey team in the mid-1960s, playing both centre and defense. He was described as a "true team player'' and was selected as team MVP twice for his leadership on and off the ice; he also played on the varsity football team for a year. One of Rea's values as a player was that you "always give 100%", something he instilled in hundreds of youth he taught and coached across many sports over his 30+ career as a teacher in Ontario. While part of the Axemen Hockey team, local youth used to come out to the rink during team practices to watch his slick passing, and famous snap-shot. Now, Rea takes great joy in watching youth, especially his grandkids - play the sports he so loves. Shortly after retiring from teaching, Rea suffered a massive stroke. His legendary determination in recovery led his friends, family, former students, and doctors to marvel at the fact that he got himself back to a position of returning to play hockey for many more years in retirement. As a part of Rea's legacy to Acadia, and his community, this scholarship is intended to provide support to an Acadia student-athlete who will become an integral part of the fabric of their communities through their commitment to athletics and personal investment.
